obedience to a rule or to the requests and demands of superiors.
Your compliance to rules is your obedience to rules, your following them. Your compliance to your superior's wishes or demands is your agreeing to their request or demands. Bureaucrats, that is, officials in charge of administration, insist that compliance alone can ensure the smooth running of the government. That is, they want rules to be followed strictly. A readiness to agree to others' requests and demands is also compliance. 'Their marriage has lasted so long mainly because of his compliance to his wife's wishes and demands.' This means that because he always obeyed his wife; there was no friction, and that caused the marriage to last so long. When a person's compliance pleases his boss, he is only too willing to please his boss.
