Presentiment is the feeling that something is going to happen, especially something bad. If a person has a presentiment, he feels that something, especially bad, is going to happen. 'When he boarded he had a presentiment that there might be a crash.� This means that as he boarded he had a strange feeling that the plane might crash. If you have a presentiment of disaster, you have a strange feeling that a disaster will take place.
- He preferred to postpone his journey because he had a presentiment of an accident or something disastrous like that. He somehow felt that the journey would not be safe.
- Her presentiment that her marriage might not come off as planned proved correct. She broke off her engagement with Ned on coming to know he was wanted by the police, and as she feared the marriage did not take place after all!
